Lego Astro Bot officially revealed as gift-with-purchase exclusive

Lego has officially revealed the Astro Bot set, confirming it will be available as a gift-with-purchase promotion starting October 4. The 18+ set contains 276 pieces and builds an 8-inch tall Astro Bot figure with dynamic posing options and swappable eyes to change the robot's expression.

The set's value proposition is contentious. A 276-piece set typically costs $30 to $40, but availability appears limited to promotional bundles. While Lego's store page confirms the gift-with-purchase status, specific promotion details remain unclear. Rumors suggest it will come with either a $150 purchase of any Lego Store items or bundled with the $180 Lego PlayStation set.

Both the Astro Bot and PlayStation sets launch October 4, or October 1 for Lego Insider program members, positioning them as paired PlayStation nostalgia products. The PlayStation set includes swappable dioramas featuring Gran Turismo and Ape Escape beneath the disc drive lid, continuing Lego's track record with console recreations following the popular Lego Game Boy set.

Astro Bot has become a PlayStation mascot following the 2024 Astro Bot game, which celebrated iconic PlayStation franchises. The limited availability of the Lego set means interested collectors may face significant barriers to purchase.
