Wooga's Ghost Detective is leaving Netflix this week after three years on the streaming platform. The story-driven hidden-object game launched on Netflix in 2023 as part of the company's growing portfolio of games.

Wooga confirmed the departure in a LinkedIn post, noting that Ghost Detective had been played for millions of hours worldwide during its time on the service. The studio said adapting the game for Netflix required changes to its economy, progression and story beats to fit the platform's format.

The removal comes as Netflix continues to reshape its games strategy. The company recently announced plans to close internal studios Night School and Moonloot, signalling a shift in how it prioritises game development and acquisitions. Netflix has expanded its games offerings beyond mobile titles, recently emphasizing TV-based party games where mobile phones serve as controllers.

The platform is also building its games and IP strategy through partnerships. Recent announcements include a Diablo animated series with Blizzard and collaborations with Sega to bring Crazy Taxi, Sonic and Stranger than Heaven to screen.
