EverQuest Legends blends classic aesthetics with modern quality-of-life features
Game Jawn's EverQuest Legends modernizes the original MMORPG's experience with quality-of-life improvements, a multi-class system, and new content like the Rulers of Kunark expansion launching this winter.

EverQuest Legends, the recently launched MMORPG from Game Jawn, is pursuing an ambitious direction. Rather than creating a 1:1 remake, the team is blending the original game's old-school aesthetic with modern conveniences that players from 1999 would have valued.
The project represents a unique approach to nostalgia-driven game design. Quality-of-life improvements include a multi-class system, simpler travel mechanics, and dungeon and raid instancing. These additions modernize the experience without abandoning the classic look and feel that defined the original.
The roster of playable races has also expanded. The Kerran, a cat-like race that appeared in the original game, are now playable for the first time. This addition signals Game Jawn's intent to explore familiar territory while introducing new elements.
The upcoming Rulers of Kunark expansion, releasing this winter, will mark a significant narrative moment for the project. Game Jawn views Kunark as pivotal in EverQuest's history and plans to explore elements from that first expansion while adding new open-world areas. Rujarkian Hills and Nektropos Castle will feature regions unreachable in the original game, with the latter introducing a new starting zone and playable race.
A particularly noteworthy feature is the Reincarnation system. This allows maxed-out characters to return to Level 1 while raising their skill caps further, creating additional progression paths for experienced players.
EverQuest Legends arrives as part of a broader industry trend toward revisiting classic MMORPGs. Blizzard recently announced a similar move with World of Warcraft Forever, suggesting renewed player interest in modernized versions of longtime franchises. The ongoing original EverQuest and EverQuest 2 continue to receive regular content updates alongside this new project.
