The emulation community has achieved a significant milestone with Marvel's Wolverine. Less than two weeks after the game's PlayStation 5 release, developers have successfully gotten it to boot and display menus on PC through PS5 emulation.

A video posted online over the weekend demonstrated Wolverine reaching its main screen and menu systems on a PC running an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. The system managed only 15 frames per second on the menu, averaging around 2 FPS overall. At that performance level, the game is nowhere near playable, and attempting to load into actual gameplay would likely result in a crash.

Despite these limitations, reaching a bootable state so quickly represents a major achievement in emulating modern console hardware. PS5 emulation is particularly challenging due to the console's complexity, making this progress noteworthy for the emulation community.

Wolverine launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 15. The game has received generally favorable reviews, with critics praising its combat and the performance by actor Liam McIntyre. Reviewer feedback has noted that the game's "safe, cliché-ridden narrative" prevents it from reaching greater heights.

The emulation effort highlights ongoing interest in playing PlayStation exclusives on other platforms, though significant work remains before Wolverine would be remotely playable via this method.
