Until Dawn 2 Confirmed for January 2027 Release on PS5 by Developer Firesprite

Developer Firesprite is taking the reins for the upcoming horror sequel Until Dawn 2, marking the first proper follow-up to the 2015 original game. While Supermassive Games previously released spiritual sequels following the original title, the new project shifts development duties to Firesprite and brings players a fresh narrative centering on a TV production crew.

A newly revealed State of Play trailer showcases difficult choices, unwinnable scenarios, and character dynamics, while confirming that the horror sequel launches on January 28, 2027. Pre-orders for the PS5 title are scheduled to open on September 10, 2026. Players will be able to choose between a standard version and a Digital Deluxe Edition. The deluxe offering includes the Y2K Neon Vibes Pack and a Dioramas of Death extra feature.

Story details from the trailer indicate that players will follow the Dead True ghost-hunting crew as they pursue a paranormal TV show production. Following an investigation at Blackwood Sanitorium that takes a chilling turn, an encounter with a supernatural survivor named Yoona leads the crew to Akishima Island, a remote paradise abandoned for decades that hides ancient secrets. Although the initial announcement trailer implied a strictly tropical island setting, the game features many different locations.

Throughout the game, choices dictate how the narrative unfolds and who survives. Players face critical decisions, such as choosing whether to follow a signal in search of a missing friend or take a riskier detour for vital clues, as well as deciding whether to make a mandated sacrifice or find an alternate route.
