NBA 2K25 delisting and server shutdown end MyCareer and MyTeam
2K will remove NBA 2K25 from online storefronts on October 30, 2026, and shut down all online services on December 31, 2026. The shutdown will make MyCareer and MyTeam unplayable because they rely on virtual currency progression.

2K has announced that NBA 2K25 will be removed from online storefronts on October 30, 2026. All online content will shut down on December 31, 2026. The publisher posted the notice on the game's Steam page.
Players who already own the 2024 edition can redownload it after the October cutoff. However, all online modes will be gone for good as of January 2027.
The shutdown will affect MyCareer and MyTeam. These modes are tied to virtual currency progression and will no longer be playable after the servers close. This is significant because these were considered the best game modes in the title.
The Nintendo Switch version is already limited. It does not include MyNBA, The W, or MyWNBA. After the servers close, only the 'Play Now' option will remain. There will be no online multiplayer options.
On Switch 1, MyCareer and MyTeam were lesser experiences than on next-gen consoles. MyCareer lacked story content, and the absence of cross-play support affected online match-ups. Despite these limitations, they were the best single-player options available.
Players hoping to keep playing NBA 2K25 instead of buying the next release will lose access to these modes. NBA 2K26 and NBA 2K27 are still available on Switch 2. However, it is likely that the MyCareer and MyTeam options in these later entries will face the same delisting fate in the future.
