The Long Survival Launches on PlayStation VR2 Next Week
Friendly Fire Studios’ co‑op survival horde shooter, The Long Survival, will hit PlayStation VR2 on August 27 after a rocky porting journey and a recent notification glitch that wiped wishlists.
Friendly Fire Studios has confirmed that its co‑op survival horde shooter, The Long Survival, will launch on PlayStation VR2 on August 27, 2026. The game, which has been marketed as featuring the biggest hordes in VR, has been delayed twice earlier this year while the studio worked to resolve cross‑platform compatibility issues between Meta Quest, PC VR, and the new PS VR2 hardware.
On August 17, the studio issued a statement clarifying that an erroneous notification had mistakenly informed wishlisters that the title was already available on PS VR2. The glitch not only misled players but also caused the platform to delete all PS VR2 wishlists for the game, a loss the developers described as “massive.” The issue has since been fixed, but the wishlists remain wiped.
Prior to the PS VR2 release, The Long Survival entered early access on SteamVR on May 21. The early access version was originally titled A Long Survive, but the name was changed to The Long Survival after community feedback. The PC VR port, which also suffered a brief delay, was released shortly after the early access launch.
Gameplay centers on wave‑based alien shooting, with players teaming up to fend off increasingly large hordes. While the core mechanics are straightforward, the title’s emphasis on cooperative play and escalating difficulty has drawn praise from reviewers who noted that the co‑op element keeps the experience engaging.
With the PS VR2 launch approaching, players who missed the early access window can now add the game to their wishlists again, and the studio has promised further updates to refine the cross‑platform experience.
