Team Vitality Secures Valorant Champions Shanghai Playoffs With 2-0 Victory Over LOUD
Team Vitality has advanced to the Valorant Champions 2026 playoffs after defeating LOUD 2-0 in Shanghai, becoming the first VCT EMEA roster to lock in a playoff spot. The superteam showed resilience in a tight series, particularly in an overtime thriller

Team Vitality has secured a playoff spot at Valorant Champions 2026 in Shanghai after defeating LOUD 2-0 in their final group stage match. The victory makes Vitality the first VCT EMEA team to advance from the group stage, following Paper Rex and NRG's progression from Groups C and D.
The series showcased the competitive nature of the event despite the clean scoreline. On Ascent, Vitality's map pick, the EMEA roster established control early with a 7-1 lead on the attack side, powered by PROFEK's 347 ACS performance in that half. LOUD managed to tighten the scoreline to 8-7, but veterans Nikita 'Derke' Sirmitev and Chronicle closed out the map 13-7 for Vitality.
Summit proved to be the turning point, living up to its name as an intense battle between both teams. The match traded 9-3 halves and progressed into overtime after both teams dominated their defensive sides. Multiple clutch plays defined the contest as it lost structure, with young rifler Ștefan 'Sayonara' Mîtcu delivering crucial rounds. Vitality recovered from a 16-17 deficit to win 19-17, demonstrating that the superteam can still develop younger talent alongside established players.
Vitality's path to Champions Shanghai has been marked by gradual improvement throughout 2026. The organization built a superteam around Valorant legend Timofey 'Chronicle' Khromov for the season, but the roster took time to synchronize. The squad missed Masters Santiago after falling to Team Liquid in VCT EMEA Kick Off, partly because Sayonara was unable to compete due to age restrictions. The team managed only a 2-3 record in VCT EMEA Stage 1 group play before reaching the finals later that stage, where they lost 2-3 to close out the event.
Vitality's form fluctuated through the year. They finished as the best EMEA team at Valorant Masters London with a fourth-place result, but disappointing 7th-8th place finishes at the Esports World Cup and VCT EMEA Stage 2 left their Champions qualification in doubt. The team secured their Shanghai spot on VCT Points and needed favorable results to make the event, but they have made full use of that opportunity with victories over Global Esports (2-1) and now LOUD (2-0).
The team's resilient victory over LOUD suggests Vitality may finally be hitting form at the right time. Fans will be watching to see whether the superteam can take the next step and compete for the championship in Shanghai.
