Global Esports Faces Elimination After VALORANT Champions Shanghai Loss to Vitality

Global Esports opened its VALORANT Champions Shanghai campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Team Vitality, pushing the Pacific representative into an elimination match against EDward Gaming on October 4.

The series swung across three maps before Vitality closed it out. Team Vitality won the opener on Abyss 13-10 after Global Esports mounted a second-half rally. Global Esports leveled the series on Ascent with a 13-9 victory, dominating the second half. The decider on Summit went down to the final rounds, with Vitality seizing late control to win 13-11.

The match marked the second Champions appearance for Filipino player Patrick 'PatMen' Mendoza and the tournament debut for Xavier 'xavi8k' Juan. Global Esports now faces elimination with no margin for error after dropping its opening group-stage series. The team's group also features Chinese powerhouse EDward Gaming.

Global Esports will fight for its tournament life against EDward Gaming on October 4, with elimination on the line. A loss would end the Pacific side's Champions run in the group stage, while a win would keep its playoff bid alive.
