Team Vitality returned to winning ways in Barcelona after defeating Aurora Gaming 3-1 in the Grand Final of StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026. The victory marks Vitality's first tournament title since May and completes a remarkable lower-bracket comeback after losing to Aurora just a day earlier.

Vitality's path to the championship proved challenging. The team opened the tournament by sweeping magic 2-0 before defeating FURIA 2-0 in the upper-bracket semifinal. However, they stumbled in the upper-bracket final when Aurora Gaming won 2-1, taking Anubis 13-7 and Nuke 13-8 after Vitality's 13-11 victory on Inferno. This loss sent Vitality into the lower bracket with no margin for error.

From the lower bracket, Vitality defeated FURIA 2-0 in the lower-bracket final, completing a second clean sweep of the Brazilian side and earning an immediate rematch with Aurora. Entering the best-of-five Grand Final, Vitality had already played an elimination series earlier in the day, while Aurora had been waiting after progressing through the upper bracket.

In the Grand Final rematch, the outcome reversed. Aurora took Inferno 13-11, but Vitality controlled the remainder of the series to secure the championship. The squad of Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, Robin "ropz" Kool, William "mezii" Merriman and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan proved their resilience by converting their second opportunity against Aurora into silverware.

Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was named tournament MVP following another championship performance in which his individual impact proved crucial to Vitality's success. The French player has remained the focal point of Vitality's Counter-Strike project through different roster iterations.

StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 featured eight teams competing in a double-elimination bracket for a $500,000 prize pool. The Barcelona event held particular significance for Vitality after months of difficult tournament results interrupted their dominance during the opening months of 2026. With this victory, the team demonstrated that their championship-winning level remained intact.

For Aurora Gaming, the result proved frustrating despite their impressive tournament run. Their 2-1 victory over Vitality in the upper-bracket final showed they could compete with one of Counter-Strike's biggest names, but they could not reproduce that result when the title was at stake.

Vitality's attention now turns to ESL Pro League Season 24, scheduled to begin in Poland on October 3.
