Team Vitality Wins StarLadder StarSeries Season 20 After Defeating Aurora

Team Vitality claimed the StarLadder StarSeries Season 20 trophy by defeating Aurora 3-1 in the Grand Final, with map scores of 13-4, 11-13, 13-4, and 13-7. The victory represents Vitality's first trophy of the Counter-Strike season after falling short at BLAST Bounty, EWC 2026, and BLAST Porto.

Vitality's AWPer Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut was the standout performer in the series, posting a 71/44 kill-death ratio across the final. The team dominated the tournament, dropping maps only to Aurora on their path to the title. Vitality defeated magic 2-0 and FURIA 2-0 twice en route to claiming the trophy, avenging their 2-1 Upper-Bracket defeat to Aurora in the process.

The victory comes with significant meaning for Vitality, as it marks the return of their full roster to competitive form. William 'mezii' Merriman returned from maternity leave after missing BLAST Porto to welcome his second child. On Twitter, mezii posted: "Nice to be back, daddy buff activated" following the championship win.

However, Vitality faces continued roster disruption heading into major tournaments. IGL Dan 'apEX' Madesclaire will miss the PGL Bucharest Masters 2026, scheduled for October 24-31. Vitality will compete at full strength at ESL Pro League Season 24 in Katowice before jL returns for Bucharest. The team will also miss IEM Beijing, meaning they will have less than a month of consecutive time with their complete roster before the PGL Singapore 2026 Major.

ApEX acknowledged the win on social media, stating: "First trophy after a long time, overall we really good tournament except yesterday. We are on the right path." The compressed schedule creates pressure for Vitality to peak quickly, as competing teams like Team Spirit will have had more consistent time together during the season. StarSeries demonstrated that Vitality's level remains competitive with teams like FURIA and MOUZ, setting the stage for their challenge at the Singapore Major.
