StarCraft is officially returning with a brand new shooter, as announced by Dan Hay at BlizzCon 2026. The announcement trailer confirms that the upcoming title will bring the franchise back in 2030. This marks the first new release for the series since 2017 when StarCraft: Remastered launched.

During his speech at the convention, Hay expressed his passion for working at Blizzard and his excitement about bringing the beloved series back. The franchise return has been the subject of long-running rumors. Reports earlier in January indicated that the game would likely be revealed at this year convention. Additional rumors earlier this month suggested that NEXON could acquire StarCraft IP development rights from Blizzard.

The cinematic trailer displayed soldiers training for ground combat and focused on a young man preparing for war. A voiceover featuring Dominion propaganda played throughout the trailer, explaining why the fight remains vital for humanity. The trailer concluded by showing the young man appearing to have perished in combat before officially announcing the 2030 release window.
