Spider-Man Actor Yuri Lowenthal Has Pushed Insomniac to Feature Deadpool
Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor behind PlayStation's Peter Parker, revealed that he has repeatedly advocated for Deadpool to appear in a future Spider-Man game.
Yuri Lowenthal, the actor who portrays Peter Parker in Insomniac Games' PlayStation Spider-Man series, has revealed that he has been actively lobbying the developer to bring Deadpool into a future installment of the franchise.
During an interview with The Movie Dweeb on Instagram, Lowenthal discussed the prospect of potential superhero crossovers. While addressing a possible collaboration between Wolverine and Spider-Man—given that Insomniac is currently developing Marvel's Wolverine—Lowenthal expressed enthusiasm for a different Marvel character. "There is one character that I would opt for even more strongly than Wolverine, and it would be Deadpool," Lowenthal stated.
Lowenthal confirmed that he has directly pitched this crossover idea to Insomniac's creative director, Brian Horton, on multiple occasions. "I've pushed [Horton] every time I see him with the Deadpool thing, so if I've just spoiled it for Spider-Man 3, then I would just like to believe that they got the idea from me anyway," Lowenthal said.
While Insomniac has not officially confirmed a third mainline Spider-Man game, the commercial and critical success of the series makes a future entry highly anticipated. However, bringing Deadpool into Insomniac's universe could present creative challenges. The character is known for expletive-heavy, fourth-wall-breaking meta humor, which contrasts with the generally straightforward, family-friendly Teen rating maintained by the Marvel's Spider-Man games.
