Sony Reveals New PS5 Pulse and Pulse Edge Wireless Headsets with Upgraded Sound and Comfort
Sony has announced two new PS5 headsets featuring custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers, AI-enhanced chat noise rejection, and an updated comfortable design.

Sony has announced an update to its line of PS5 Pulse headsets, introducing two new models designed to deliver improved sound quality, enhanced comfort, and advanced background noise-rejection features for voice chat. The new hardware lineup consists of the Pulse Wireless Headset and the Pulse Edge Wireless Headset. Both models support PS5 consoles as well as other devices.
According to Sony's official PlayStation Blog post, the Pulse Wireless Headset is scheduled for release by the end of this year, while the Pulse Edge Wireless Headset is slated to launch in early 2027. Further details regarding exact release dates, pricing, and pre-order plans will be shared soon.
At the core of the new headsets are custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers designed to offer superior sound quality. Larger planar drivers have been integrated into both devices to produce fuller and deeper bass while maintaining clean audio output, helping players pinpoint important auditory cues like enemy footsteps. Additionally, the integrated microphones feature AI-enhanced noise rejection to filter out background sounds.
The updated hardware also sports a new form factor built for lasting comfort and durability, including rotating earcups that allow the headsets to lay flat for easier portability. The Pulse Edge Wireless Headset stands as the more feature-rich model of the two, offering active noise cancellation, a detachable boom mic, and an included carrying case.
