Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War launch on Switch 2 September 30

Aspyr is releasing two Lord of the Rings games for Switch 2 on September 30, 2026: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition. Both titles will be available individually or bundled together.

The bundle is priced at $34.99, representing a 50% discount from the base price during its pre-order period. Shadow of Mordor costs $9.99 (reduced from a $19.99 launch price), while Shadow of War is priced at $24.99 (down from $49.99). Purchasing the bundle provides no additional savings beyond the individual pre-order discount.

Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition includes multiple expansions and bonus content. "Lord of the Hunt" lets players hunt beasts to turn against Sauron's forces. "The Bright Lord" allows players to battle as Celebrimbor and wield the One Ring. Additional content includes the Guardians of the Flaming Eye Warband Mission, bonus Warband Missions, runes, and character skins for Talion.

Shadow of War Definitive Edition features story expansions "Desolation of Mordor" and "Blade of Galadriel," along with the Slaughter Tribe and Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansions. The Garrison system is fully playable offline, allowing players to reassign Orc followers across regions on the go. Online features including Conquests, Vendettas, Fight Pits, and Training Orders are unavailable in this edition due to its offline optimization.

This release follows Aspyr's earlier Switch port of Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition, which launched for both Switch and Switch 2.
