Minecraft Switch 2 Edition Reportedly Arrives 27 October
GameRant reports a native Minecraft Switch 2 edition for 27 October, with Vibrant Visuals, a Super Mario Mash-Up pack and a limited free digital upgrade.

A native Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Minecraft is reportedly set to launch on 27 October, according to GameRant, as reported by Gamereactor UK. GameRant describes it as the first native version of Mojang's sandbox for Nintendo's current hardware. The release would give Nintendo's newest console a native version rather than one played through the original Switch version. That distinction matters because first-year Nintendo consoles have historically relied on the biggest family games appearing in their launch window. Mojang and Nintendo have not confirmed the date or the upgrade terms.
According to GameRant, the Switch 2 edition includes the Vibrant Visuals update, Mojang's graphics overhaul with enhanced lighting, shadows and visual effects, plus access to marketplace content built for it. It also carries a Super Mario Mash-Up pack with 15 music tracks and 40 player skins inspired by the Super Mario franchise.
The upgrade path is split. GameRant reports that owners of the digital version of Minecraft on the original Nintendo Switch can upgrade free of charge, but only until the end of January 2027. Players who bought a physical copy are left out and must buy the new version outright, which GameRant lists at $29.99 in US pricing.
Minecraft was fully released on 18 November 2011 and has remained a fixture since. The reported release would land in the Switch 2's first year on shelves. It also arrives during a busy stretch for the game: GameRant notes an Ice Caves biome is due in a game drop later this year, and The Sift, described as a new dimension and the first in 14 years, is reported for 2027.
