Aspyr Media announced September 22 that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor's Game of the Year edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War's definitive edition are coming to Switch 2. The games release together in the Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle on September 30 for $70, with a 50% discount available through October 6 at 2:59 AM ET, bringing the price to $35.

Both titles include extra content from their DLC models, such as story missions, character skins, weapons, and gear sets. Aspyr did not specify technical details for the Switch 2 versions.

This marks the latest step in Aspyr's effort to re-release older Lord of the Rings games. The publisher previously released The Lord of the Rings: War in the North Legacy Edition in August. Aspyr has indicated plans to bring even more legacy titles to modern platforms.

Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War were developed by Monolith Productions. The studio was shut down by Warner Bros. Games in 2025, ending hopes for a third game in the series. Beyond these re-releases, new Lord of the Rings games are in development, including an RPG from Kingdom Come developer Warhorse and a project from Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics.
