PS5 System Update 26.06-14.00.00 Rolls Out Globally With PSSR Improvements and Speaker Indicators

Sony Interactive Entertainment has started rolling out PS5 system software update 26.06-14.00.00 for users to download worldwide. One of the main highlights of this latest firmware release is the Enhance PSSR Image Quality option, which is now turned on as the default setting upon updating the system software on PS5 Pro consoles.

When enabled, enhanced PSSR is utilized even for games that support the previous version of PSSR. This allows players to experience sharper and clearer visuals. Users who wish to disable this setting can navigate to Settings, choose Screen and Video, select Video Output, and turn off Enhance PSSR Image Quality. This specific feature is available only on PS5 Pro.

The update also introduces new voice chat functionality letting users see who is speaking. To activate the speaker indicator, players can go to the voice chat card in the control center, select More, choose Display Who is Speaking, and turn on Display Names. Position settings allow users to choose where the indicator appears on screen.

Additionally, Sony has added the Community Activity widget to the Welcome Hub. Players can switch between Trending Now, which displays ten surging multiplayer games or modes, and Top 10, which highlights the ten most popular games in the last week for a specific region.

For certain regions, changes were made regarding Bluetooth functionality. Selecting Turn Off Bluetooth under Accessories, General, and Advanced Settings will prevent the console from entering rest mode and disable HDMI Device Link. This setting is intended for managing controller connections at esports venues. Finally, the update improves overall system software performance and stability.
