A brand-new software update has arrived for the PlayStation 5, introducing a widget that shows the top 10 most popular games in a player's country alongside currently trending game modes. Sony tested this new feature in beta earlier this year. During that testing phase, players could view popular games, game modes, and player counts. The official update has now been released, allowing users to add the feature directly to their Welcome Hub.

Update version 26.06-14.00.00 brings the Community Activity widget to the console. This widget can be viewed in two different ways. The first is Trending Now, which highlights multiplayer games or modes that are currently gaining popularity. The second is Top 10, which displays the most popular games in your country or region over the past week. However, unlike the earlier beta version, the live public release does not display specific player counts.

Alongside the activity widget, the update includes several other system changes. A new feature called Display Who is Speaking lets players see who is talking in voice chat, turn on display names, and choose the location of the speaker indicator on screen using a position tool. On the PS5 Pro, the Enhance PSSR Image Quality setting is now enabled by default, and overall system software performance and stability have been improved.

Additionally, the update introduces a specific setting for certain countries and regions using a PS5 or PS5 Pro console. By navigating to settings, accessories, general, advanced settings, and selecting turn off Bluetooth, the console will no longer enter rest mode and HDMI Device Link will cease to function. Sony notes this new tool is specifically intended for managing controller connections at esports venues and similar locations and should not be used for other purposes.
