Nightdive Studios Head Raises Hopes Of An Eternal Darkness Remaster

Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios, has reignited hope that players might see a remaster of the 2002 survival horror title Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Speaking on social media during the anniversary of the Nintendo GameCube release in Japan, Kick responded to a fan who called Nightdive the only hope for seeing the game again. Kick stated that the survival horror title is one of his all-time favorites and noted that it deserves the treatment he knows his studio is capable of providing. He also advised followers to keep their eyes on the studio deep dives and provided a link to the company YouTube channel.

The comments are being viewed as a tease for an upcoming announcement regarding the GameCube exclusive. Eternal Darkness follows protagonist Alexandra Roivas as she investigates her uncle's death in Rhode Island and experiences a centuries-long battle against mysterious entities known as the Ancients. The game features historical sections across locations like Cambodia, France, and Persia, utilizing a sanity meter mechanic that causes various effects and fourth-wall breaks as characters lose their grip on reality.

While the recent remarks have generated excitement among fans, previous discussions regarding the property have faced hurdles. Kick previously stated that the studio had experienced little luck when attempting discussions with Nintendo, though those comments were made over four years ago.
