Aspyr has announced that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition are launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 30, 2026. Both games are coming to a Nintendo platform for the first time.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition is priced at $19.99, with a pre-order discount bringing it to $9.99. Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition is priced at $49.99, discounted to $24.99 for pre-orders. The Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle, which includes both titles, is priced at $69.99 but available at 50 percent off during the pre-order period for $34.99. Pre-order discounts are available until launch.

Shadow of War Definitive Edition requires a 73GB download and includes touchscreen support. Shadow of Mordor's download size was initially listed as 50MB but is expected to be updated to reflect the full game.

Originally developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, both games are set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The Definitive and Game of the Year editions include all previously released DLC and bonus content.

Shadow of Mordor is the winner of more than 50 awards, including Game of the Year and Best Action/Adventure Game. The game features the groundbreaking Nemesis System, which creates unique, procedurally generated enemies that level up, adapt, and hold grudges unique to each player. The Game of the Year Edition includes campaign expansions "Lord of the Hunt" and "The Bright Lord," a Guardians of the Flaming Eye exclusive warband mission, and bonus warband missions, runes, and skins.

Shadow of War Definitive Edition features story expansions "Desolation of Mordor" and "Blade of Galadriel," plus the Slaughter Tribe and Outlaw Tribe Nemesis expansions. The edition is optimized for offline play, with the Garrison fully playable without a connection. Online Conquests, Vendettas, Fight Pits, Chests, and Training Orders are unavailable in this version.

The announcement comes as some players expressed disappointment that these ports were not announced for current-generation PlayStation or Xbox consoles. Both games have remained on PS4 at 30 frames-per-second, with no enhanced versions released for PS5 or current-gen platforms.
