Media Molecule is reportedly set to reveal its next project in 2027. According to a report by MP1st, sources indicate that the upcoming title from the LittleBigPlanet developer will take the form of a social simulation game inspired by Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. The project is reportedly not a games-as-a-service affair.

Previous information regarding the studio's direction includes a May 2026 report from MP1st that pointed to open-world content found on a Media Molecule artist resume. Additionally, co-founder Mark Healey stated in a 2024 interview that the studio's next title would function more as a game than a creative tool, which differentiates it from their previous release, Dreams.

Leadership changes have also occurred at the studio. In August of last year, co-founder David Smith announced his departure to focus on personal creative projects. Smith originally founded Media Molecule alongside Mark Healey, Alex Evans, and Kareem Ettouney. The studio was subsequently acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2010.
