Marvel’s Wolverine Features Trailer Details Combat, Adaptations, and Launch Options

A new trailer and PlayStation Blog post have detailed the gameplay features, combat techniques, suit crafting, and accessibility options coming to Insomniac Games' upcoming PS5 exclusive, Marvel’s Wolverine.

Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Insomniac Games have released a new features trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, narrated by actor Liam McIntyre, who voices James “Logan” Howlett. Set to launch exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026, the superhero action-adventure game emphasizes fast, fluid, and ferocious combat centered around aggressive momentum.

Players will utilize claws, kicks, barrages, and critical strikes while unlocking new combat Techniques and rechargeable Special Techniques. Up to four Special Techniques can be equipped at once, including moves like the Tornado Spin, Knee Breaker, and Spiral Strike. Additionally, players can customize Logan through dozens of Adaptations that improve traits such as bullet absorption, parry windows, and Rage build-up. The Rage system features a three-tiered adrenaline pool focusing on survivability, resilience, and fury.

The game's original narrative follows Logan, Jean Grey, and members of Team X as they attempt to disrupt Bolivar Trask's plans against mutantkind, encountering villains such as Omega Red and Deathstrike along the way. Between encounters, players can explore optional side activities including Nightmare Door challenges, collectible whisky bottles to uncover memories, and material crates used to craft comic-, movie-, and animation-inspired suits like Weapon X, Old Man Logan, and Ultimate Wolverine. Collecting suits grants health upgrades and unlocks alternative claws, such as bone, notched, and curved variations. Players can also manually pop Logan's claws outside of combat by pressing L2 and R2.

At launch, players will have access to a New Game+ mode featuring exclusive Techniques and Level Caps, a Mission Replay feature, Nightmare Challenges, and a Photo Mode added via a day-one update. Furthermore, Marvel’s Wolverine includes over 100 accessibility options carrying over or improving upon previous Insomniac titles, such as Global Game Speed, High Contrast visuals, English Audio Description, and Strong Haptic Signals. Players can also utilize customizable filters and toggles to alter blood, dismemberment, and adult language.
