Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Update Adds Toggle to Disable Scent Trails for Collectibles
Insomniac has released patch 1.001.006 for Marvel's Wolverine, introducing new settings that let players turn off scent trail indicators and audio clues for optional collectibles and activities.

Insomniac Games has pushed live a new patch for Marvel's Wolverine on PS5 that addresses player complaints about the scent trail system guiding players to objectives and collectibles.
Patch 1.001.006 introduces toggles in the settings menu to disable sensory indicators entirely. With these toggles enabled, the purple roots that appear near Nightmare Doors will no longer show, audio alerts for Material Crates won't sound, and the scent trail leading to Whisky Bottles will disappear from view.
The update provides separate on and off toggles for three distinct indicator types: Whisky Bottle Scent Trails, Material Crate Audio Clues, and Nightmare Door Roots. Players can customize which sensory clues they want active while exploring for optional collectibles.
According to Insomniac, the game defaults to having these indicators appear, but players can access the toggles through the pause menu. Any scent trails tied to the main story objectives will remain unaffected by these new settings.
This marks the second adjustment to the scent trail system. A previous update reduced the visual intensity of the blue smoke that guided players to collectibles. Now that system can be removed entirely for those seeking a more challenging discovery experience.
The patch also includes fixes for community-reported crashes and bugs. Insomniac announced the changes via social media on September 25, 2026.
