Marvel's Wolverine Becomes PlayStation's Biggest Physical UK Launch of 2026
Marvel's Wolverine recorded PlayStation's strongest boxed sales debut in the UK this year, though physical game sales continue their decline as Sony prepares to phase out disc-based releases.

Marvel's Wolverine achieved PlayStation's biggest physical sales launch in the UK during 2026, according to sales data from The Game Business. The title ranked as the third-strongest boxed release across all platforms in the UK so far this year, behind only Resident Evil Requiem and 007 First Light.
The performance marks a significant moment for physical PlayStation releases. With roughly 15 to 16 months remaining before Sony discontinues boxed PlayStation games entirely, successful disc launches have become increasingly rare. Marvel's Wolverine's debut demonstrates lingering demand for physical editions despite the industry shift toward digital distribution.
When compared to other PlayStation Studios releases, the numbers reveal the scale of the launch. Marvel's Wolverine sold nearly three times more physical copies than Death Stranding 2 during its opening week. However, the title fell 60 percent short of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's physical launch figures and recorded marginally lower sales than Ghost of Yotei.
Across the broader UK market, Marvel's Wolverine entered the weekly physical sales chart at number seven, trailing titles including Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
