Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch with a physical disc version that is fully playable out of the box. Project director Jess Reiner-Reed stated in an interview with Eurogamer that the title will be available in both digital and physical formats, and that players can experience the game entirely from the disc upon purchase.
Despite the disc being fully playable, developers strongly encourage players to download the game's day-one patch. Reiner-Reed explained that the team will continue working on polish and bug fixing in the months leading up to release. Head of technology Mike Fitzgerald added that the team consists of perfectionists who will utilize every available minute to tweak and improve the experience, giving players who download the update the benefit of that extra development time.
Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch on September 15th for the PS5. Insomniac's narrative focuses on a world without the X-Men where mutants are treated as outsiders, following Logan as he deals with anger management issues and Bolivar Trask kidnapping mutants for experiments. Alongside the main campaign, players can tackle optional Nightmare Doors trials to explore Wolverine’s mind, and utilize New Game Plus features including Adaptations to increase difficulty and unlock new gameplay options.
