Marvel's Wolverine has received a hotfix update addressing one of the game's most debated features: scent trails. The bright blue lines help Wolverine locate mission objectives and collectibles but have drawn widespread criticism from players who find them visually distracting.

Patch 01.001.005 doesn't remove the scent trails entirely but reduces their opacity and tones down associated audio sense indicators. In the patch announcement, developer Insomniac Games said it "continues to evaluate ways to further improve senses" and is exploring the ability to toggle them off entirely in a future update. The feature has been nicknamed "fart gas" by some players and faced mockery online even before the game's launch, with fans requesting a toggle option once the distraction became apparent.

The hotfix also addresses game crashes that "a small percentage of players" were experiencing. Early sales estimates put Marvel's Wolverine at 1.9 million copies sold across digital pre-orders and launch day, generating approximately $130 million in revenue for Sony. Physical sales accounted for 22.9 percent of that total, lower than the developer's previous title Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which saw 35 percent of sales from physical copies.
