Classic SNES RPGs Lufia and Lufia 2 Coming to PS5 Next Year

Two classic SNES RPGs are heading to PlayStation 5. Clear River Games, in partnership with original publisher TAITO, will release Lufia I & II The Sinistrals Saga on PS5 next year with enhancements for modern play.

The original Lufia is a traditional Japanese RPG centered on destined heroes battling a world-ending threat called the Sinistrals. It's often compared to early Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games, though Lufia never established itself as a long-running franchise. The game was never officially released in Europe.

Lufia 2 is technically a prequel to the first game but took a different approach. Instead of the typical town-to-town adventure, it featured a 99-floor dungeon where defeat meant restarting from the beginning. Unlike the original, Lufia 2 released in Europe, though it was simply called Lufia, which confused players for years.

Clear River Games has not specified what enhancements the PS5 versions will include. The publisher plans to share more details in the coming months.
