Lies of P Director Says Studio Wouldn't Settle for Game-Key Card on Switch 2

In a recent interview with RPG Site, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi discussed the studio's approach to physical media, explaining why Nough Studio completely avoided utilizing a game-key card for the game's release on the rumored or upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. According to Choi, the team never considered launching the complete edition as a digital download key because everyone at the company considers themselves a "proud gamer."

The discussion surrounding physical versus digital game media has intensified across the industry, especially following recent industry events and announcements, such as PlayStation ending physical disc production and reminding users that digital purchases do not equate to direct ownership. For Nough Studio, however, the choice to put the full game—including the base experience and the Overture content—directly onto the Switch 2 cartridge was decided simultaneously with the decision to port the game itself.

Operating under the studio slogan "Games by Gamers," Choi emphasized that preparing a comprehensive physical edition was a natural decision intended to function as a gift to dedicated fans who value tangible ownership, easy reselling, and the ability to share physical game copies with others.
