Flying Wild Hog Animator Releases KeyFlow, Suite of 25+ Free Maya Animation Tools

Sebastian Jaksan, cutscene animator at Flying Wild Hog, has released KeyFlow, a free production toolkit combining video reference management with over 25 Maya animation utilities designed to streamline everyday tasks.

Flying Wild Hog's cutscene animator Sebastian Jaksan has released KeyFlow, a comprehensive free toolkit for animation professionals. The software combines two core components: KeyFlow Studio, a video review application, and KeyFlow Tools, a collection of Maya utilities.

KeyFlow Studio functions as a lightweight reference management system. It allows animators to work with video materials, compare clips side by side, draw annotations directly on footage, add notes, and conduct live team review sessions. The tool can trim and retime video references, adjust timing to match specific shots, and export finished references directly to Maya or Blender with a single action.

KeyFlow Tools includes more than 25 utilities such as SelSet, Mirror, RelativeSpace, and PlayblastTool. These are designed to accelerate routine animation work. The interface features a customizable dock positioned above the Maya timeline, smart tooltips with animated GIF previews, and a search function to quickly locate tools.

The software supports Maya versions 2021 through 2026 on Windows and is free for both personal and commercial use. Jaksan notes the toolkit remains under active development and welcomes user feedback, suggestions, and bug reports from the animation community.
