James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough Announced for Nintendo Switch 2

Developer and publisher System 3 has officially announced James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough for the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the classic secret-agent fish back to modern hardware. Slated for release in October 2026, the comprehensive collection compiles 12 different versions of four beloved historical titles: James Pond: Underwater Agent, James Pond 2: RoboCod, James Pond 3: Operation Starfish, and The Aquatic Games Starring James Pond and the Aquabats. These versions span a variety of classic home computer and console systems, including the Amiga 500, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and Commodore 64.

To appeal to both longtime fans and new players, System 3 has integrated several quality-of-life enhancements and modern conveniences into the package. Players will be able to utilize multiple save slots, experience controller rumble, adjust scanlines, modify in-game audio options, and display custom bezels. Additionally, the collection introduces an interactive hub titled the "Pondverse." This digital museum features character profiles, hero and villain biographies, franchise history, level information, original packaging artwork, newly crafted 3D artwork inspired by original pixel art, and a comprehensive timeline charting the evolution of the series.

Alongside the digital and standard release plans, a strictly limited physical Collector’s Edition is being produced with game preservation in mind, capped at no more than 6,000 physical copies worldwide. Pre-orders for the collection include a digital download of James Pond music. This musical offering includes "Maybe," an original studio-recorded title track inspired by the series' primary adversary, Dr Maybe. The song is scheduled to be released on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music prior to the game's official launch in October 2026. According to System 3 Founder and CEO Mark Cale, the release aims to preserve the diverse versions, soundtracks, and artwork that defined the franchise while adapting them for modern audiences.
