Grand Theft Auto VI Playthrough Took Dev Around 80 Hours To Complete
Rockstar North's Head of Development revealed his GTA VI playthrough took about 80 hours, alongside new details on framerates and launch plans.
According to recent reports, a playthrough of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI will take players around 80 hours to complete. Rob Nelson, Head of Development at Rockstar North, shared with The New York Times that his personal playthrough of the game lasted approximately 80 hours. This timeframe encompassed both the main narrative and certain optional goals that feature narrative ramifications.
Nelson also expressed his aspirations for the player experience, noting he hopes players will balance in-game exploration with everyday life. Beyond the campaign length, a substantial wave of information regarding Grand Theft Auto VI emerged following Netflix’s 'An Extended Look' feature, which provided the first proper look at the title in action. During visits to Rockstar North headquarters, Nelson confirmed to outlets that the game will run at 30 FPS upon launch, and stated it will not feature microtransactions or generative AI.
The highly anticipated open-world title from Rockstar Games is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
