Game Informer published a 14-page cover story on GTA 6, made available free through the Game Informer app on Android and iOS. The feature reveals substantial details about Rockstar's next major entry in the franchise, arriving in November 2026.

The game world spans Rockstar's largest map to date, twice as large as GTA 5 and described as "more dense, detailed and interactive." Six primary regions compose the playable space: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.

The weather system has been fundamentally reworked. Rockstar engineered it "to make everything much more localised and persistent," allowing different weather conditions across the map simultaneously. One region may experience clear skies while another faces rain. The system includes dynamic cloudscapes, tropical storms, hurricanes, an updated wind system, and rainbows under appropriate lighting conditions.

Environmental detail extends to wildlife. GTA 6 features over 170 animal species, including more than 60 bird types and over 30 land mammals such as manatees, flamingos, pelicans, alligators, feral cats and armadillos. Animal rendering incorporates iridescence, bioluminescence, translucency, feather types and fully simulated fur.

Police mechanics have evolved alongside returning features. The six-star wanted level system returns, complemented by a new Heat system. Under Heat, police receive information about the player based on appearance and location at a crime scene. Successfully evading law enforcement may require changing the player's appearance rather than simply fleeing.

Rockstar released new screenshots alongside the Game Informer feature. The cover story reportedly contains additional reveals beyond those highlighted in early coverage.
