Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV update launching in two parts later this year

Polyphony Digital has officially announced a major free update for Gran Turismo 7. Entitled Spec IV, the update is slated to launch across two separate drops later this year as part of preparations to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original release of Gran Turismo. The first part of the update will arrive in October 2026, while the second part will follow in December 2026. Further details regarding the upcoming content will be shared during Round 3 of the Gran Turismo World Series event in Singapore on October 3.

Among the primary additions are new circuits and a total of 12 new vehicles spread across both update builds. The first new circuit is Japan's Sportsland SUGO, arriving in October. Known for its elevation changes, flowing layout, and signature Dunlop bridge, it will be joined later by the returning legacy track Autumn Ring, which first appeared in the original title and makes its comeback in the December release. Vehicles identified in promotional trailers include the Honda MUGEN MOTUL CIVIC Si Race Car, Citroën 2CV, E60 BMW M5, Honda Stepwgn MPV, Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo, and Xiaomi Vision GT.

Spec IV will also introduce several new gameplay features and modes. Online Drift Trials will challenge players on control and style, while Shuffle Races will return to offer randomized conditions for online lobbies. Additional updates include new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, progression changes, and a Concierge feature designed to assist with vehicle purchases. Furthermore, a new Family Mode will debut in the December update, built to make the racing simulator more welcoming and accessible for younger players and casual family gaming sessions.
