Crimson Desert's First Expansion, Charting the Unknown, Launches Next Month

Developer and publisher Pearl Abyss has revealed that Crimson Desert is receiving its first significant new content drop, titled Charting the Unknown, launching next month on October 15. The expansion was shown during a Sony stream and will take players beyond the existing borders to explore a completely new region, venture into the ocean's depths, and dive deeper into the game's other playable characters, including Damiane and Oongka alongside an older Kliff.

According to the reveal, the upcoming expansion introduces a wide range of new gameplay features. These additions include naval combat, underwater exploration where protagonist Kliff is shown riding a shark, and an underwater battle against a giant mech. In addition to the expansion, Pearl Abyss is enhancing the game with a new update featuring better localization and more language options.

The announcement follows strong commercial performance for the title, with Pearl Abyss's financial earnings reporting that Crimson Desert has sold over 6 million copies. Alongside the October expansion release, the studio is preparing further content updates for the summer and future DLC. Furthermore, a playable version of the game is reportedly ready for the Switch 2 as the Korean developer works to bring the title to the platform.
