Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement has been delayed into 2027. Despite the pushback, a brand new trailer debuted at Tokyo Game Show 2026, offering a fresh look at the upcoming title from Koji Igarashi. Developed as a 2.5D Metroidvania action game, the project serves as a prequel of sorts to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Set in 16th century England, the story features a pair of playable characters named Leonard and Alexander. Players must control them to work together in order to defeat Demon Lord Elias. According to available details, the game features the series largest map to date alongside dynamic time-of-day effects that alter how players interact with the environment. The recent trailer highlights snappy action mechanics and detailed interactions, giving fans a better idea of what to expect when it launches next year on PlayStation 5.
