Blizzard Announces Diablo V for Spring 2029 Release at BlizzCon 2026

Blizzard announced during BlizzCon 2026 that Diablo V is officially scheduled for release in spring 2029. The studio revealed its long-term plans for the franchise at the event, showcasing what players can expect from the next mainline installment. Developers initially considered building the concept as an expansion for Diablo IV, but ultimately decided that the new setting and gameplay modifications justified developing a full sequel instead.

In the upcoming game, Diablo has already conquered Sanctuary, and most of humanity has been either eliminated or corrupted. Players will traverse an active Westmarch environment utilizing a traveling caravan that functions in place of the standard towns and permanent safe zones seen in prior titles. According to the development team, they chose to announce the title early to gather extensive community feedback over the coming years, with initial details expected to arrive next year.

Alongside the sequel announcement, Blizzard confirmed that an animated Diablo series is in development for Netflix. Furthermore, both Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal have major content updates scheduled for release. Additional specifics regarding the upcoming game were shared during a dedicated panel at the convention.
