Blighted Delayed to 2027 by DrinkBox Studios for Additional Polish
DrinkBox Studios has pushed the release of its Metroidvania action RPG Blighted from fall 2026 to 2027.

DrinkBox Studios has delayed its upcoming Metroidvania action RPG, Blighted, moving the project from its previously planned fall 2026 window to a 2027 release. The studio behind Guacamelee announced that the extra time will be used to further polish and tune the game to ensure the best possible player experience.
DrinkBox representative Josh Davis shared a statement regarding the decision. The team has been working hard and growing, but leadership feels they still need a bit more time to tune the experience before launch. Davis expressed appreciation for player patience and confirmed that while more substantial news will arrive in the new year, a final developer update for 2026 is scheduled to release later this winter.
Alongside the delay announcement, DrinkBox teased new looks at the game's level design. This preview highlighted environments such as the Watcher's Peak hub. When the game eventually launches, Blighted will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
