Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Koei Tecmo has released a new trailer for Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories, the latest mainline entry in the Atelier franchise. The game emphasizes alchemy as a core mechanic and will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on February 5, 2027, as a game-key card.

Atelier Karia follows protagonist Karia, an adventurer with a mysterious ability to eat and analyze nearly anything. Set two years after alchemist Yumia uncovered the mysteries of Aladiss, the story begins as mana begins to decline across the continent in an event known as mana withering. Karia, a member of the Aladiss Pioneering Team, is sent to investigate ruins alongside researcher Servio. The pair discovers a vast underground world beneath Aladiss called Subterraneia, where Karia first encounters alchemy and learns she possesses an innate talent for it. Throughout her journey, she uses her abilities to aid companions and explore the underground realm while uncovering ancient legends and confronting her own forgotten past.

Gameplay centers on a renewed cycle combining synthesis, exploration, and real-time action combat. Players gather ingredients to synthesize items, which can be used during battle and exploration or consumed by Karia to unlock physical abilities and field actions. Eating Echo Crystals scattered throughout the story reveals mysteries of Subterraneia and Karia's past. A new synthesis system uses mana pieces and connecting lines to alter item properties, with item rebuilding allowing players to modify effects, traits, and stats. Players can also design and develop bases across exploration regions to expand pioneering areas and gain bonuses.

Combat features parrying, countering, charge skills requiring precise timing, and new finishing moves. Each party character has unique abilities, and players can perform friend assists and dual attacks by teaming up with allies. The adventure spans two expansive areas: the continent of Aladiss and underground Subterraneia, requiring varied items and field actions to progress, including encounters with a giant dragon.

A Premium Box edition has been confirmed, which includes the game, an art book, extra music tracks, nine A4-size water-repellent posters, and an early distribution costume code for "Pioneering Team's Head Chef."
