Godfall Developer Counterplay Games Sets January Release Date for Action Shooter Armatus on PS5
Counterplay Games, the studio behind Godfall, has confirmed a January 7 release date for its upcoming single-player action shooter, Armatus, on PlayStation 5.
Counterplay Games, the development studio previously known for PlayStation 5 launch title Godfall, has confirmed an official launch date for its upcoming project, Armatus. The single-player action shooter previously held a vague "winter" release window, but now has a locked-in launch date of January 7 for Sony's console.
According to available details, Armatus carries some noticeable design DNA from Godfall, though the new title features a much bigger emphasis on ranged weaponry and third-person action. The January 7 release adds to a rapidly filling schedule for the PlayStation 5 during the opening months of the year.
While Godfall focused primarily on melee combat mechanics, observers note that the developer's combat feel and moment-to-moment gameplay could translate well into the upcoming shooter's action-heavy framework. Armatus stands as a dedicated single-player experience slated specifically for Sony's current-generation system.
