Zero Parades Director's Cut adds 40,000 words and a stoned tuk-tuk escape scene
Studio ZA/UM is releasing a free Director's Cut update for Zero Parades on October 1, featuring new narrative content, a dramatic roundabout encounter, backstage development insights, and improved voice acting. The PlayStation 5 version launches November

Studio ZA/UM has announced Zero Parades: Director's Cut, a major free update arriving October 1 for PC owners. The expansion adds approximately 40,000 words of new narrative content, new encounters, and quality-of-life improvements to the espionage RPG released earlier this year.
The centerpiece is Quisach Roundabout, a new dramatic scene where protagonist Hershel Wilk and her friend Ramses find themselves stoned behind the wheel of a hijacked tuk-tuk, unable to escape the roundabout late at night. The objective is straightforward: take the right exit and head home. The announcement teases that failure leads to existential and possibly fatal consequences.
Beyond the roundabout sequence, the update includes more opportunities to bond with allies and handlers, new paths through difficult situations, and deeper exploration of Hershel's mind. The English voice-over has been completed with sections like the intro re-recorded for consistency and audio quality.
A new Backstage Mode lets players explore earlier iterations of game levels and environments, alongside cut content and developer commentary from art director Kaspar Tamsalu. Additional additions include new clothing, character portraits, interaction options, death screens, atmospheric enhancements, and a photosensitivity mode.
The Director's Cut parallels Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, which added voice acting and new content to ZA/UM's acclaimed 2019 RPG. However, the update arrives just four months after Zero Parades' initial release, compared to the year-and-a-half gap before Disco Elysium's expanded edition.
The rapid turnaround follows a challenging period for the studio. In July, ZA/UM announced layoffs affecting up to 32 employees, citing Zero Parades' commercial performance compared to Disco Elysium as the reason for downsizing.
The Director's Cut also marks the console expansion of Zero Parades, with a PlayStation 5 launch set for November 3. The update is free for current PC owners.
