Grand Theft Auto 6 includes a feature that lives up to its reputation for irreverent humor: you can throw dog poop at NPCs. South Park's latest episode gave viewers an exclusive look at the mechanic in action, revealing several layers of detail Rockstar built into what could have been a throwaway joke.

The system works like this. Dogs in the game have dedicated animations for taking a poop. The NPCs who own those dogs will then collect the droppings. Players can pick up the poop and use it as a weapon, smashing it directly into an NPC's face. When it hits, the poop explodes into smaller, messy chunks on impact.

While the poop-throwing mechanic grabbed headlines thanks to South Park's coverage, GTA 6 is introducing several systems designed to make the open world feel more grounded and interactive. One example is the Scooter Bros. app, which lets you call a ride via smartphone. Rather than having your vehicle instantly appear, a company employee will drop it off at your location using a scooter stashed in the trunk, then ride away. This service comes with a small fee, mirroring real-life car delivery services.

The app-based vehicle system requires some planning. If you're in the middle of a robbery, you won't have time to call for a pickup. You'll need to arrange transportation beforehand or steal a car from the street, though stealing brings its own complications. A driver might fight back, the vehicle could have a tracker, or it might be low on fuel.

Rockstar Games described the fuel system as a quick diversion rather than a constant burden. Cars can run for a long time before needing to refuel, allowing players to focus on missions and exploration without constant stops at gas stations.

GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game's landmass is nearly as large as the combined playable maps of GTA 4, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The download size reflects that scope, and Rockstar is giving players a week to grab it before launch.

South Park's coverage of GTA 6 is part of a broader season-long arc. The show has rebranded itself as South America, with a running gag that society's problems will be solved once GTA 6 releases. The franchise has a history of video game references, most notably the 2006 episode Make Love, Not Warcraft, which featured machinima pulled directly from World of Warcraft. A 2019 two-episode storyline heavily referenced Red Dead Redemption 2.
