Xbox Mythic Achievements Now Available for Insiders, Bringing PlayStation Platinum Trophy Equivalent

Xbox has introduced Mythic Achievements for Insiders, a long-requested feature that celebrates completion of games by awarding special status when players earn every original achievement in a title. The system functions similarly to PlayStation's Platinum trophies and is now available for testing through the Xbox Insider Program.

Mythic Achievements are granted when players complete all original achievements for a game. DLC and post-launch achievement additions are not required to earn Mythic status. Once achieved, the designation remains permanent on a player's profile, and their history carries forward across devices.

A significant aspect of the rollout is retroactive eligibility. Microsoft has already added Mythic Achievements to games players completed in the past, including Xbox 360 titles. Players visiting their profiles may discover existing games have reached Mythic status without taking additional action.

To support the new feature, Xbox profiles now include a dedicated Gaming tab. This tab displays achievements, tracks progress toward Gamerscore milestone badges, and allows players to revisit completed games. Mythic Achievements are visually distinguished with a heroic frame in achievement history, making them easy to identify.

Progress tracking has been streamlined across the platform. A progress bar appears at the top of each game's achievement list, showing how close players are to Mythic status. An option to focus on original achievements filters out add-on content, which is clearly tagged to distinguish it from base-game requirements. Similar progress information appears in Xbox Guides and achievement details.

Players can also view their friends' Gaming tabs to see their accomplishments and discover which games they have completed to Mythic status, adding a social element to the achievement system.

The feature was announced as one of Xbox's most frequently requested player features. It launched weeks after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma indicated that Xbox would receive a platinum trophy equivalent in 2026. Mythic Achievements had previously leaked as part of an Xbox PC app update, complete with a unique unlock sound.

Xbox Insiders can access the feature immediately through the Xbox Insider Hub on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Players interested in joining the Insider Program and accessing early features can download the Insider Hub or visit aka.ms/XBOXplayervoice to provide feedback. The Xbox Insider subreddit serves as a community resource for support and discussion.
