Team17 Announces The Escapists 3 for PC and Consoles in 2027

Team17 has officially announced The Escapists 3 during the Triple-I Showcase. The sequel is set to arrive on PC and consoles in 2027, offering the series’ classic prison‑escape formula with expanded content. Players can expect more prisons to explore, a deeper crafting system, and over 120 new weapons to steal and assemble.

The press release highlights key features. Each of the five prisons operates on its own routine, giving inmates unique guard rotations to observe and exploit. A robust XP system lets players earn skills and customize their escape style, which carries over across all locations. The game supports both solo and cooperative play, with local split‑screen for two and online multiplayer for up to four participants. As before, escaping requires planning, sneaking, fighting, and improvisation, but now includes new mechanics like trading with fellow inmates and completing jobs for supplies.

Harley Homewood, general manager at Team17, commented, “The Escapists, as a series, has aptly been both a breakout and runaway success for Team17. As such, I’m delighted that we’re offering players the chance to become institutionalised once more, but this time in fully realised, 3D correctional facilities. It’s a fresh perspective on a fan favourite, and today’s announcement is just a sneak peek of what’s to come,” in a press release. The quote underscores the studio’s confidence in the franchise’s continued popularity.

The announcement positions The Escapists 3 as a natural evolution for fans who enjoy strategic sandbox gameplay and cooperative chaos. With its expanded arsenal, varied prison environments, and enhanced customization, the title promises both new challenges and familiar satisfaction for those looking to plan and execute the perfect breakout.
