Xbox Insiders Receive New Home Layout Controls, Save Storage Tools, and Profile Badges

A fresh console update rolled out to Xbox Insiders introduces new ways to customize the Home screen, manage local save storage, and view detailed profile badge information.

Xbox Insiders are getting a new suite of console features designed to give players tighter control over their Home experience, local storage management, wishlists, and profile badges. Rolling out first to Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha members, with select updates launching to everyone immediately, the latest update addresses several long-standing player requests.

For the Home screen, players can now customize the Recent Games and Apps list by removing any item using the Menu button, including the Play History tile. Additionally, a new immersive background mode allows users to fade away the UI entirely by pressing the right thumbstick button on their controller from anywhere on Home, putting dynamic or custom backgrounds center stage without distractions. Pressing any button returns players right back to where they left off.

Local save game management has also received a significant overhaul. Because local storage can occasionally fill up and block new game progress—even though saves are automatically backed up to the Xbox network—managing that space was previously cumbersome. A new tool allows users to view, sort, and delete local game saves that are not currently in use. Players can delete single large files or clear all unused local saves at once by navigating to Settings, System, Storage, and selecting Manage local game saves, or by accessing the feature through low-storage notifications.

Profile badges are seeing updates as well, with detailed information now available for every badge displayed on a profile. Users can inspect high-resolution artwork and see when and how a badge was unlocked. To celebrate 25 years of Xbox and the November 22, 2013 launch of the Xbox One, players who unlocked the original Day One achievement will receive a new commemorative Day One profile badge. Furthermore, wishlist organization has been streamlined; purchased games will now be automatically removed from wishlists.
