Xbox Insiders Receive New Dashboard Customization, Remote Play Upgrades, and Audio Features

Microsoft has rolled out a comprehensive new set of console features for Xbox Insiders designed to provide players with enhanced customization, improved remote play quality, and smoother social connections. The latest preview updates aim to reduce time spent navigating menus and allow players to tailor their console experience to their personal preferences.

Personalization is a major focus of the latest preview batch. Players can now select which startup animation greets them when turning on their console, with available options stretching from the Xbox One era up to the latest generation. This feature can be adjusted under the system settings, where users can also choose whether the animation plays with or without sound. Additionally, profile card personalization has expanded, allowing Xbox Insiders to showcase up to five earned badges and hide individual badges from public view.

Finding specific content within large inventories has also been streamlined. A new local search tool is now available within 'My games & apps', official club achievement lists, and profile achievement histories. Working alongside existing sorting and filter options, the local search capability lets players quickly locate specific titles and individual achievements.

For players who utilize Xbox Remote Play to stream from their console to phones, PCs, televisions, and other devices, users in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings on Xbox Series X|S can test higher-quality streaming. Supported devices can now experience up to 1440p resolution and increased video bitrates for sharper visuals and smoother gameplay. Because Remote Play leverages the user's existing console hardware, this capability is available as a benefit with no additional subscription required. Furthermore, cloud gaming features have been updated so that downloads can continue in the background while streaming, reducing wait times when network conditions allow.

Communication and party features have also received important updates. Xbox Insiders on Xbox Series X|S can now test Voice Clarity, an enhanced audio feature designed to suppress everyday background noise during party chat and in most games released since 2020. Voice Clarity is enabled by default and can be managed directly through the volume and audio output settings. Additional behind-the-scenes updates aimed at improving party reliability and security are also currently open for testing as Microsoft gathers community feedback.
