Xbox Game Pass September Wave 1 Adds Seven Titles, Including Black Ops Cold War

Microsoft has rolled out the first wave of additions to Xbox Game Pass for September, confirming seven titles that will join the subscription service across Cloud, Console, and PC over the first half of the month. The lineup is anchored by a day-one release and the arrival of a major 2020 first-person shooter that has been conspicuously absent from the catalog until now.

Kicking off the month on September 1 is Shelldiver, an incremental game described as following a turtle fishing for jellyfish and then selling its catch at an in-game store. The headline day-one addition arrives on September 3 in the form of Speedrunners 2: King of Speed, a competitive co-op platformer that now supports up to eight players online.

On September 4, Dice a Million joins Game Pass Premium as a roguelike deck builder, with availability later expanding to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The biggest single addition of the wave lands on September 8, when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War arrives on Cloud, Console, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers. Microsoft has previously stated that newer Call of Duty entries will not be added on day one, though this 2020 title is now entering the service after a multi-year wait.

September 10 brings two further arrivals: The Royal Writ, another roguelike deck builder with a medieval theme, and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, a brawler featuring Sega's fighting game roster. RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a co-operative survival adventure, rounds out the first wave on September 15.

The additions arrive as Game Pass prepares to lose several titles in September, with Cyberpunk 2077 reportedly leading the wave of departures, according to Microsoft's standard end-of-month rotation schedule. Microsoft has not yet announced the second wave of September additions or any additional removals beyond what is already known.
