World of Warcraft: Forever beta hits capacity limits again as player surge continues

World of Warcraft: Forever's beta has grown so popular that Blizzard has increased the server population cap for a second time. Holly Longdale, executive producer of World of Warcraft, announced the expansion on X, writing: "So... we had to increase the WoW: Forever Beta population cap again. The wild ride continues."
The surge in players has exceeded Blizzard's initial expectations. Josh Greenfield, a long-time World of Warcraft: Classic developer, posted that the beta led to the "craziest numbers I've seen in 17 years working at Blizzard and almost 8 years on classic." That comparison points to traffic levels rivaling the game's peak popularity around 2008-2009, when World of Warcraft reached approximately 12 million paying subscribers worldwide.
The current beta requires players to purchase the Skyborne Epic pack for £51.99, $59.99, or €59.99 for access. When World of Warcraft: Forever launches on 4 November, entry will shift to a standard monthly subscription model. Analysts expect player numbers to grow substantially once the full release becomes available to subscribers.
The strong beta performance echoes World of Warcraft: Classic's 2019 launch, which saw the largest subscriber surge in the franchise's history. Many players have responded positively to the prospect of a long-term supported classic experience.
