WoW: Forever Hides Over 12,500 Items From Dataminers During Beta

Blizzard is keeping nearly 40 percent of World of Warcraft: Forever's item pool secret, with dataminers able to see items exist but not their stats. Players have already discovered over 4,400 of the hidden items during the ongoing beta.

World of Warcraft: Forever is concealing the stats on over 12,500 items in the game's files, according to analysis by Icy Veins. Dataminers can detect that these items exist and sometimes identify their sources, but cannot see their actual statistics or effects.

This represents nearly 40 percent of Forever's approximately 32,000 total items. Many are assumed to be entirely new, though some are likely modified versions of items from WoW Classic. The hidden pool includes gear from raids and dungeons, as well as tier sets.

Beta players have already uncovered over 4,400 of these concealed items. Once discovered, items are revealed in the game's backend. Players have already identified loot tables for early dungeons including Wailing Caverns, Ragefire Chasm, Shadowfang Keep, and the Deadmines. The current beta level cap of 20 will raise to 30 before the test phase ends, likely revealing additional dungeon loot.

The sense of discovery appears to be driving the beta's popularity. Multiple Blizzard developers, including VP Holly Longdale, have noted that the test is breaking player-number records, prompting Blizzard to increase the beta's population cap.

The beta concludes October 21, with the full launch scheduled for November 4. Forever will include over 1,000 new quests added to classic Azeroth, new zones, and endgame content. A recent Blizzard survey outlined 11 potential new classes that could arrive after launch, though none will be available at release.
