World of Warcraft offers players a wide array of classes to master, but according to the development team, one specific option holds a unique reputation. Speaking with GameSpot at BlizzCon, senior game designer Josh Greenfield and senior art director Jeff Parrott discussed their favorite and most-played characters. While Parrott stated that he prefers playing a Hunter, Greenfield faced detailed discussion regarding his choice to play a Paladin.

When asked about the reputation of the heavily armored class, Greenfield agreed that it is certainly a dad class. He stated, "You know, I'm not a dad, I'm a dog dad, but I've got the dad bod, so Paladin is totally a dad class." Greenfield does not have human children, but developers noted that his selection matches the overall community stereotype surrounding the character type.

Paladins feature a dependable and responsible toolkit designed to keep allies alive while dealing impressive damage. They wear heavy armor, protect party members, and handle healing duties. While playing a Paladin is open to everyone in World of Warcraft, the development team has officially acknowledged the class archetype. In addition to class discussions, Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft Forever launches on November 4, preceded by a playable beta test going live on September 17.
